Truro Swimmers .... No Land Training on Friday 25th May due to exams

Welcome to the Truro City Swimming Club website.

Situated in Cornwall the most beautiful and south western county in the UK.

Truro City Swimming Club founded before 1928 and revitalised in 1973 remains the premier swimming club in the County. Using a modern pool facility at Truro Leisure Centre, with 6 X 25m lanes and electronic timing it has been the most competitively successful club in Cornwall for the past 15 years.

In Emily Dart (Bio) the clubs Head Coach, the club is fortunate to have one of the very few Level 4 qualified coaches in the country, supported by her superb team of coaches (team), the club continues to grow and go from strength to strength. It has a very successful racing squad placed in the top 16 of South West England and Wales clubs and follow a progressive training programme which continues to delivery success. The club has had representation at Junior, Senior and National Level and also boasts some of the County's top Surf Life Savers as members a number who have represented Great Britain.

The Swim club has seen a number of great success, not only continually developing swimmers to compete at County and South West Regional level, but in 2007 (4 Swimmers), 2008 (4 swimmers), 2009 (1 swimmer) and 2010 (3 swimmers) were competing at ASA National level at Sheffield in July & August.

The Club welcomes swimmers of all abilities !

Truro Swimmers enjoy good results at the 2013 Newquay Open ...

This is the third year of the Newquay Open Gala and it is clearly becoming a popular fixture in the swimming calendar attracting all the clubs from Cornwall and this year it saw the arrival of Plymouth Leander.   Many young swimmers were aiming to build on times achieved at the Counties and get early times for the following year, some were going for regional times and others debuting at their first competitive gala having made the qualification times.

Truro swimmer Charlie Haynes excels at Regional Championships
Truro City Swimming Club's talented male vice-captain Charlie Haynes had a superb weekend competingthis weekend at the ASA Southwest Regional Youth Swimming Championships held at Millfield in Somerset. After a highly successful Cornwall County Championships back in March this year where Charlie was crowned Junior Champion in five events, he took on the best of the Southwest at the next level in this year’s regional youth championships.

Truro swimmers deliver in the National Lifesaving Championships

The unique location of Cornwall being surrounded by beaches and the sea, finds some of the cornish youngsters joining one of the many Surf Life Saving Clubs around the County. For the Truro swimmers this offers not only a fun opportunity to learn lifesaving and lifeguarding skills that can be shared in the community, but also the oportunity to rermain fit during the swimming off season of the summer months.

Truro Swimmer Robyn Edwards takes it to the next level at Bristol

What a weekend for talented Truro swimmer Robyn Edwards, who after a super 2013 County Championships where she was crowned Junior champion in the 100m and 200m backstroke took it to the next level by qualifying for the National Age Group Championships at Ponds Forge in Sheffield.

Truro Swimmers claim 25 medals at the CCASA Intermediate Championships

This years County Intermediate Championships saw some of the newest members of Truro City swimming club get their first taste of competing against other swimmers from across Cornwall and a number who had already competed at this years County Event. The event hosted for those swimmers who just fell short of the County Block qualifying times for some or all of their events is always a popular and well attended event.

Truro Swimmers attend International Swim Festival in Bad Bergzabern, Germany ...

10 Truro City swimmers set off at the crack of dawn Friday 15 thMarch, for what was possibly the most challenging weekend of their swimming lives so far, The Pamina International Schwimmfest at Bad Bergzabern, Germany, accompanied by Team Manager Paul Parkinson, Team Coach Owen Rothwell and Female Chaperone Tracey Clapton.

Extreme Reading from Truro City's Junior County Backstroke Champion ...

Truro City swimmer Robyn Edwards enjoy's reading the  relaxes in ASA Swimming Times, although there are not many that can claim to have done it, relaxing in a 150 metre swimming pool suspended 151 metres up in the air and spanning between 2 hotels.

Truro City swimmers deliver in the final weekend of the County Championships 2013

The climax of the 2013 Cornwall County Swimming Championships began on Saturday as swimmers arrived at the Penzance Leisure Centre. For many of the younger swimmers they had spent all week looking at their BAGCAT rankings and wondering where they might pick up points to finish in the top 8 and claim a trophy at Sundays presentation. For those over 14 years of age it was about maximising the points for their Club or making one of the Junior or Senior finals giving them a chance to be champion.

Truro City make an impression at the first weekend of the County Championships 2013

With the cold snap continuing across the UK it was anything but as the heat was turned up in Penzance on the first weekend of the County Age Group Championships. Team Manager Mark Norton and Head Coach Emily Dart arrived on the first Saturday with strong expectations and team of swimmers ready to get the serious race season underway.

Let’s kick off with some brilliant stats from Coach Emily Dart after the first weekend of the 2013 Cornwall County Champs.

• 173 swims including Finals
• 128 PBs (74%)
• 29 swims within 2% of PBs (91%)
• 9 County Champions from Finals (Junior/Senior)
• 28 Finals held and Truro was in 23!
• 34 Regional Times
• Several swimmers are knocking on the door of Regional Times and even National Times.

Truro City young guns almost snatch victory at the County Junior Interclub 2013 ...

Truro City Swimming Club Junior Members made the annual trip to the Dragon Leisure Centre Bodmin with high hopes of a shock result on Sunday 12th January in the County  Division One, Junior Inter Club Championship.

Truro Swimmers at the 2012 Bodmin Open ...

After recently returning from the Jersey 2012 Open the previous weekend, Emily Dart and her coaching team were again back on duty at poolside for the popular 2012 Bodmin Open. The coaches somewhat ferry-lagged, took a young squad of 32 swimmers along to the popular meet.

Truro City swimmers challenged by the weather and the competitors at Jersey Open 2012 ...

Truro City SC set off in the early hours of Friday morning with ambition on timing their arrival at the Jersey Open 2012 first session that evening. However as a storm front moved up through the channel Head Coach Emily Dart and her assistants  Kate Smitham and Dan Corbett had to change plans and the expected 3 hour ferry crossing turned in to a marathon taking almost 11 hours.

Truro City Juniors make a good start at this early season opener ...

Truro City Swimming Club took a continguent of its Junior members to the 2012 Carn Brea & Helston Open. For some of the younger swimmers not only was it their first taste of competition outside of their club, but for a few it was their first official licensed meet; for all of them not only did they have a great day but many came away with new personal best times.
